Still Think Cryptocurrencies are a Risk?

Acontinual point of contention openly courses through conversations within the industry and among those of us that are investing in either cryptocurrencies, stocks, or both. The question — and often the match that ignites a heated discussion — is one that has no easy answer, and maybe no direct answer at all.

What is more Volatile: Investing in the stock market, or investing in the cryptocurrency market?

Though everyone seems to have their opinion on which investment opportunity contains the highest level of risk, there is honestly not one right, or wrong answer. In fact, one might even assert that they are equally volatile and thus need to be treated equally as such.

With new cryptocurrencies emerging on a daily basis, the market is primed for extended growth, however, over the last several months, we have seen a downward streak with cryptocurrencies and that has caused investors, and enthusiasts to take a step back from the previously aggressive investment nature that was seen in the past. But, that fear is misplaced, when in fact, every type and style of investment comes with risks.

This fact was showcased on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018, when the stock market took a massive hit, plummeting over 600 points and sending investors and companies into a tailspin. Reminiscent of ‘Black Monday’ (A disastrously damaging market crash that occurred on October 19th, 1987), the 608 point drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJII) effectively wiped out all gains for 2018, as it was a sharp 2.4% decline.

In a Forbes article, speculations were made as to what may have been the catalyst behind these detrimental numbers, citing adverse consequences of a trade war and rising interest rates, among other things. The point, however, is that there is no ‘SURE’ investment opportunity, because, well… there is no way to predict the future.

Sure, there will always be uncertainties in every market, and that is why all investments are risky, but they are risks worth taking. The Crypto market is continuing to grow and intelligent investment professionals are readily available to assist you on your path to discovering what investments are right for you, but to let fear of the unknown hinder your desire to look towards cryptocurrencies as a viable option, is doing yourself a great disservice.

At a time where there is such potential growth, it is important that you fully assess your options in full, prior to making a decision, regardless of if you are looking towards the traditional investment market, or the budding market of cryptocurrencies.
